Unser ehemalige Regierende Bürgermmeister wohnte mal in der Bonner Straße 2 und lebte zuletzt in unmittelbarer Nähe bis zu seinem Tode in der Johannisberger Strasse 34 in Wilmersdorf.

Als Erinnerung an den langjährigen Regierenden Bürgermeister Klaus Schütz (1926 bis 2012) ist eine Gedenktafel in Wilmersdorf enthüllt worden.

Der SPD-Politiker amtierte von 1967 bis 1976 als Senatschef. Er hatte den Posten auf dem Höhepunkt der Studentenproteste angetreten, sein Vorgänger Heinrich Albertz war wegen der Erschießung des Studenten Benno Ohnesorg durch einen Polizisten zurückgetreten. Klaus Schütz galt als enger Vertrauter von Willy Brandt. Unter anderem war er auch Bundestagsabgeordneter und Staatssekretär im Auswärtigen Amt.
Nach seiner Zeit als Regierender Bürgermeister wurde er deutscher Botschafter in Israel, Intendant der Deutschen Welle und ehrenamtlicher Präsident des Deutschen Roten Kreuzes (DRK). Schütz starb am 29. November 2013 im Alter von 86 Jahren.

An seinem ersten Todestag wurde am Sonnabend, 29. November, eine Gedenktafel an der Johannisberger Straße 34 in Wilmersdorf enthüllt, wo Schütz einige Jahre lang gewohnt hatte Das Grußwort sprach der Regierende Bürgermeister Klaus Wowereit (SPD), die Amtsvorgänger Eberhard Diepgen (CDU) und Walter Momper (SPD) würdigten Schütz in Laudationen.
Für das Bezirksamt Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf nahm Kulturstadträtin Dagmar König (CDU) teil. Angefertigt wurde die Gedenktafel im Auftrag der Kulturverwaltung in der Senatskanzlei und des Vereins „Aktives Museum“, die Anregung stammte von der Bezirksverordnetenversammlung (BVV).
Üblicherweise werden verdienstvolle Personen in Berlin frühestens fünf Jahre nach ihrem Tod mit einer Gedenktafel geehrt, Ausnahmen sind aber möglich. CD
